  About Us

The Tirkane Prefix was carried on by Knox & Millicent Ingram’s daughter Ann who started to handle dogs in the Children's Classes at an early age. This lead to a passion for dogs which still survives today.

In the I960s Ann was interested in Boston Terriers to have something different from her parents’ breeds, and the age of 14 she made up her first UK Champion Ir. & Eng. Ch. Miss Print of Torlu. She made up another few champions in this breed but the difficulties of breeding them led her back to the Boxers.

1970s saw the crowning of the first UK Ch. Boxer with Ir. & Eng. Ch. Tirkane Avaunt Top winning Boxer Bitch for the year. The late seventies saw the arrival of the Toy Poodles, originally white ones but this progressed to the Apricots and blacks. The first Irish Champion was Panavons Little Pericet and he was followed by many homebred champions.

1980s The eighties saw the Poodles in partnership with Angela Corish and the first U.K. Ch. Hornstar Modern Millie (photo soon) started a successful run of champions in the UK. The Top winning Miniature Ir & Eng. Ch. Sealaw Pacesetter  took Best In Show at Manchester Championship Show and also Best of Breed at Crufts.

The Lhasa Apso Ir. & Eng. Ch. Orianna of Saxonsprings also joined the team becoming an Irish & Eng. Ch. Taking Best in Show at Belfast Ch. Show and was also top dog in Ireland and won the Champions finals.

1990s Millicent Ingram judged Boxers and Ann judged Boston Terriers at Crufts. Ann was now an All Breeds judge and was travelling round the world judging.

Kay won Best In Show Kilkenny Ch. Show with her miniature Ch. Marchesi Melissa and Best in Show Poodle Club of Ireland with Ch. Montbernard Bullseye.

She re-introduced the Apricots using her English import dog, Katine My Special Man for  Rhosbridge  to produce the 1st Apricot Champion Trendicote Fire Flame who was the grandmother of Int. & Ir. Ch. Tirkane Spiced Gold  WW'08 the first Apricot Toy ever to win BOB World Winner.

The Poodles continued on their winning ways with Dog CC Crufts  2008, Int. Ir. & GB. Ch. Tirkane Just As Ambitious and World Winner Bitch 2010 in  Herning, Denmark with Ir. GB. & Dk. Ch. Tirkane Burning Desire  The Boxers were no longer being shown due to a repeated leg injury which kept Ann on and off Crutches for several years, until she reluctantly had to give up breeding them.

Ann judged Boxer Dogs at Crufts, making history by being the only mother and daughter to have judged the Boxer Breed at this prestigious show.

The Tirkane Team are now resident in Cork.
